Arc flash, PPE, LOTOTO, and approach boundaries — NFPA 70E & Workplace compliant

ArcReady's Safety track is 181 questions across 36 topics, built around NFPA 70E and general workplace electrical safety practice. Because a mistake in the field has no do-over, the Safety Certification-Prep exam requires a 100% score to pass — get one question wrong and you're guided back through the explanation before you can retake it.

What You'll Be Tested On

The question bank is organized into a few core clusters. Each one has a matching deep-dive in the Study Guide:

Topic ClusterWhat It Covers
Arc Flash FundamentalsWhat an arc flash actually is, incident energy, working distance, arc flash vs. arc blast
Approach BoundariesLimited, Restricted, and Arc Flash Protection boundaries — who can cross which, and under what conditions
Arc Flash LabelsReading equipment labels — incident energy, PPE arc rating, working distance
PPE & HRC CategoriesThe four PPE categories (0–4), minimum arc ratings, and required gear per category
Lockout/Tagout (LOTOTO)The eight-step procedure for reaching an electrically safe work condition
Energized Work PermitsWhen energized work is justified, and who has to sign off on it
Qualified Person RulesWhat actually makes someone "qualified" — it's competency-based, not a job title
PPE Inspection & TestingGlove testing intervals, inspection standards, and purchasing requirements
Safety ScenariosApplied judgment calls — the kind of situational questions a real jobsite throws at you

Workplace Standards vs. NFPA 70E

ArcReady lets you toggle between two safety profiles — Workplace Standards (a generalized employer safety program framing, shown in green) and NFPA 70E (the code-specific framing, shown in blue). The toggle changes how certain questions and safety profiles are presented throughout the Safety and Lab sections, so you can study in whichever context matches what you're being tested or trained on.

How the Safety Track Works

There are three modes:

Every attempt is scored and tracked automatically in My Progress, including a topic-mastery breakdown so you know exactly which of the 36 topics need another pass.
